Rescuing magical beasts in Hogwarts Legacy allows players to expand their Vivarium while collecting valuable crafting materials for gear upgrades. Among the various creatures scattered throughout the Highlands, Kneazles are highly intelligent, cat-like beasts known for their distinct large ears and bushy tails. Finding their dens and successfully capturing them requires specific spell tactics and a good understanding of map locations.
Primary Kneazle Den Locations
One of the earliest accessible places to discover a Kneazle den is in Hogwarts Valley, located just south of Brocburrow. Players who travel to the Brocburrow Floo Flame can head directly south down the hill to locate the roaming creatures. This spot provides a reliable option for players looking to rescue their first set of Kneazles.
For players exploring the southern regions, another den resides near the Northern South Sea Bog Floo Flame. Heading southeast from this fast-travel point reveals a small cluster of Kneazles near the surrounding terrain. Additional dens can be found farther south near Marunweem Ruins, Cragcroftshire, and Clagmar Castle.
Essential Spells and Preparation for Catching
Before attempting to capture a Kneazle, players must unlock the Nab-Sack through the quest given by Deek the house-elf. Kneazles are quick and cautious, making stealth an essential part of approaching their dens unnoticed. Casting the Disillusionment spell allows you to get close enough without startling the creatures.
Once within range, applying crowd control spells will prevent the beast from running away while filling the Nab-Sack meter. Casting Levioso or Glacius holds the Kneazle in place long enough to complete the required button prompts easily. Following up with Arresto Momentum can extend the duration if the creature begins to break free.
Vivarium Care and Gear Upgrades
After successfully capturing a Kneazle, you can release it into any unlocked Vivarium in the Room of Requirement. Feeding and brushing your rescued Kneazles yields Kneazle Fur on a regular basis. This material is required for applying Tier 3 traits to your gear using the Enchanted Loom.
